Get up close and personal to some of the most fearsome and unique creatures Tropical North Queensland has to offer at our local wildlife parks.
Renowned as 'the Best Crocodile Show in Australia', at Hartley's Creek Crocodile Adventures you will encounter literally hundreds of crocodiles! Take to the water on a lagoon cruise in specially constructed boats to explore the natural habitat of the Australian Saltwater Crocodile. At Hartley's Creek, you will also discover koalas, kangaroos, cassowaries, dingoes, snakes and reptiles.
Set amid six hectares (15 acres) of tropically landscaped gardens, Cairns Tropical Zoo provides the perfect introduction to Australia's fascinating wildlife. Australia's leading environmental wildlife experience, The Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary, provides visitors with a chance to observe up close a huge range of flora and fauna. Over 180 species, some 1600 animals from the surrounding rainforest, wetlands and grasslands in unique immersion exhibits spread throughout the 8 acre park.
At Rainforestation join the amphibious Army Duck for an exciting tour of the rainforest on land and water. The Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers perform a powerful, exciting show of traditional dance in the rainforest amphitheatre. On the Dreamtime Walk see spear-throwing, didgeridoo playing and try your hand at boomerang throwing. See crocodiles, kangaroos and wombats in the Koala and Wildlife Park, or maybe have your photo taken cuddling a Koala (optional expense).
Kuranda offers a variety of wildlife experiences - Birdworld boasts over 70 species of Australian and exotic birds including the endangered Cassowary, Kuranda Koala Gardens is a superb attraction in the village where visitors can purchase a souvenir photo 'cuddling a koala', see crocodiles, wombats, lizards, wallabies and experience Australia's first walkthrough reptile house, and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is home to a live exhibit of thousands of spectacular tropical butterflies in their natural habitat.
